Diverless Pipe Lift Frames (DPLF) are installed over pipelines on the seafloor using ROV assistance. The DPLF is lowered on a four-part sling from the surface. An ROV guides in down so that the pipe guides straddle the pipeline. The ROV then actuates the torque bucket using a standard torque tool to lower the pipe clamp. The pipe clamp self-opens on the pipe and then locks closed. The ROV then actuates the torque bucket to raise the pipeline off the seafloor.
DPLFs can be used to lift a damaged pipeline for placement of explosive charges needed to remove the damaged section and then lower it to the seafloor for detonation of the charges.

DPLFs are also needed to lift and hold pipeline ends for installation of various diverless components: the HydroTech Pipe Recovery Tool, a diamond-wire cutting unit, the HydroTech Grip & Seal HydroCouple, the HydroTech HydroClamp diverless repair fitting, and the HydroTech HydroTap diverless hot-tap system.
After use, DPLFs are recovered to the surface. The ROV hooks up the four-part sling to the lift line, then actuates the torque bucket to run the pipe clamp fully down, and finally pulls levers to open the clamp and release the pipeline.
