External Gripper

Holds pile string while sections are added or removed
External Gripper can be either pneumatic or hydraulic-powered.

Pneumatic operation is faster than hydraulics, providing virtually instant gripping. Offshore, where the crane barge is often moving relative to the structure, the fast operation makes it easier to position piling and prevents damage to gripping segments.

Convenient pins lock the tool in the open position while piling or conductor is driven or lowered.

Any of the actuating cylinders can be replaced quickly, even when the tool is holding pipe.

External Grippers can be made side-opening, an advantage when working with very long pile sections or when using the tool for drilling operations.
