Deepwater: Deepwater development has been accompanied by an increasing demand on Steel Catenary Risers (SCR) to meet greater load requirements and more hostile operating environments. From the early development of Steel Catenary Risers to the present day, Oil states SCR FlexJoint® have been a key component in the success of the SCR. The FlexJoint® dramatically reduces the motion-induced stresses between a floating offshore facility and the riser. FlexJoint® are capable of providing a free angular rotation ±20°, pressures up to 10,000 psi and axial tensions up to 3,500 kips.
Fixed Structures: Many seawater caissons suffer corrosion damage at the pump intake housing, in the splash zone, or at an uncoated weld. In time, the corrosion can weaken the caisson enough to require some kind of remedial action. Oil States patented Hydra-Lok® service can provide an economical means of repairing corrosion-damaged seawater uptake caissons without a need for diver support or platform shutdown. Hydra-Lok®'s caisson repair liner, which can be installed in as little as 24 hours and can cost only 20 to 30 percent as much as installing an external clamp using diver support.
Diverless Pipeline Tie-in Systems: Hot-tap tie-ins can be accomplished in depths beyond 1,000 ft using a new diverless system called Deep Tap. A 12-inch by 12-inch ANSI 900 diverless hot-tap system was manufactured for installation in 2001 in the Gulf of Mexico. Deep Tap is a service provided by an alliance of companies, each providing its specific expertise: Oil States Houston, Williams, Oceaneering, and T. D. Williamson. Oil States HydroTech™ supplies the HydroTech™ Hot-Tap clamp.
