Committed to innovation since its inception, Oil States Industries, Inc. has a rich history that began in 1942 as a supplier of rubber components for Texas' oil patch producers. A clutch/brake product line soon followed, and today Oil States ElastaFlex® clutches are staples in the marine, mining, paper, and logging industries.
In the 1950's, Oil States expanded on its rubber expertise by pioneering and developing the first flexible load bearings for bridges - the first use of a laminated bearing in a structural application. This laminated bearing technology was the foundation for the FlexJoint® product line used today in drilling, production, mooring, and structural applications around the globe.
During the 1970's, Oil States expanded into the aerospace market by developing elastomer based shock and noise isolators for military, marine, and aircraft usage.
As exploration depths increased during the 1980's, Oil States responded with new products for TLPs, FPSs, subsea pipeline maintenance and repair, and subsea template installation and leveling. In the 1990's, Oil States deepwater solutions were implemented for major projects such as Norske Shell Troll, Shell Mars, Shell Mensa, Oryx Neptune, and most recently for Petrobras as Oil States installed the world's first steel catenary riser on a FPS.
Through acquisitions made in the 1990's and early this century, Oil States has become an international company that provides a variety of products, services, and integrated solutions worldwide. With locations in 11 countries and more than 1,700 employees worldwide, Oil States will carry on its tradition of developing and providing technologically advanced products and solutions well into the next century. | |
